ADHD throughout life
Mental health professionals, educators, and an affected individual will share their experience on the evolution of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) from childhood to adulthood, presenting the diverse needs of this group and their families based on the special personal and environmental circumstances to which they must adapt throughout their life cycle.
Are you a person affected by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a family member, a caregiver, if you work in the educational or mental health field, or if you are interested in learning more about the daily life of a person with ADHD?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects an individual's attention, cognitive processes, and psychomotor skills. It is a disorder that begins in childhood, although it is frequently not detected until adolescence or adulthood, leading to numerous adverse consequences for the individual, both personally, familially, and socially.
Although it was usually considered a disorder exclusive to childhood and adolescence, the reality is that the disorder can persist throughout life.
75% of children with ADHD will become adolescents with ADHD, and of these adolescents, 50% will become adults with ADHD. The prevalence of ADHD in the adult population is estimated to be between 3-4%.
