"We must learn to live with our difficulties and make them favorable"
Pol has Asperger's syndrome and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He is a very restless boy, who always has to be doing something and who finds it difficult to change routines.
When Pol entered the Sant Joan de Déu Terres de Lleida child and youth mental health center, he explains that "I was very shy, I didn't want to talk to anyone, and I spent a whole month hiding under the table." Group therapies and his environment have helped him "break these barriers that I had inside of shyness and insecurity" and now he considers that he has changed and improved a lot.
"I still have many things that are not 'normal' in other people's eyes," considers Pol, who often finds that "people think you can't do anything on your own."
Now that he feels empowered, he would really like to help other people like him understand that "what they have is not a disadvantage," that "life is always difficult and we must learn to live with our difficulty and make it favorable."
