World report on social determinants of health equity
This report analyzes how social factors such as place of birth, education level, ethnicity, gender, and income influence people's health and generate avoidable and systemic inequalities. The report reveals that, although there has been progress since the Commission's 2008 report, health gaps within countries are widening. It proposes structural actions to address these inequalities, grouped into four key areas: reducing economic inequality and investing in universal public services; tackling structural discrimination and the effects of conflict and migration; harnessing climate change and digitalization for health equity; and reforming governance for more effective action. The report emphasizes that addressing the social determinants not only improves health but is also essential for sustainable development and social justice.
