This guide addresses the definition, characteristics, and differentiating criteria of addictive behaviors, both those related to psychoactive substances and those related to non-substance activities, such as gambling or shopping. It presents explanatory models for understanding addiction from different perspectives (biomedical, social, and biopsychosocial), as well as risk and protective factors. Furthermore, it provides tools for prevention and treatment, highlighting the importance of motivation for change and social reintegration.
