Eating disorder
What should teachers do if they suspect that a student may have an eating disorder?
It is recommended to talk to the person about what is troubling them and calmly communicate any changes that have caused concern, without judgment, offering them a confidential space. The person may deny that what we have observed is happening to them or that they need help. In any case, they should be encouraged to talk to their family and seek help from a healthcare professional. It is important to offer them the option of communicating with their family themselves, if necessary, with the support of a trusted person at school. If they prefer not to, we must inform them that the school will handle the communication to ensure their well-being.
