What behavioral signs should alert us to an eating disorder?
Some behaviors may lead us to suspect an eating disorder:
- Persistent diet even though the person is very thin.
- Change in eating habits (becoming vegetarian or vegan, rejecting dressings and sauces).
- Growing interest in cooking, clothing and fashion.
- Disappearance after meals and locking themselves in the bathroom.
- Tendency to hide certain parts of the body with clothing.
- Purchase and consumption of weight loss products.
- Strange rituals with food, such as chopping it into very small pieces, spreading it out on the plate, absorbing the oil with a napkin...
- Excessive physical exercise.
- Obsession with constantly weighing oneself.
- Social isolation.
