Communication disorders

What behavioral signs should alert us to an eating disorder?

Some behaviors may lead us to suspect an eating disorder:

  • Persistent diet even though the person is very thin.
  • Change in eating habits (becoming vegetarian or vegan, rejecting dressings and sauces).
  • Growing interest in cooking, clothing and fashion.
  • Disappearance after meals and locking themselves in the bathroom.
  • Tendency to hide certain parts of the body with clothing.
  • Purchase and consumption of weight loss products.
  • Strange rituals with food, such as chopping it into very small pieces, spreading it out on the plate, absorbing the oil with a napkin...
  • Excessive physical exercise.
  • Obsession with constantly weighing oneself.
  • Social isolation.
