Symptoms

What are the first warning signs of psychosis?

Psychosis is not always easy to detect. Before psychotic symptoms appear, other, more nonspecific symptoms or warning signs may occur, sometimes a few days or even a few weeks beforehand.

Some of the most common warning signs are the following:

  • Feeling more tense, more afraid, or more anxious.
  • Racing thoughts: having many thoughts at once, not being able to concentrate on one thing.
  • Be quieter and isolate yourself.
  • Feeling down, less motivated, or more irritable.
  • To be more tired.
  • Having strange sensations that leave me confused.
  • Having little appetite, losing weight.
  • Having frequent forgetfulness.
  • Suddenly not being able to sleep.
  • Neglecting physical appearance.
