Once the routine of playing games or using screens without any prior conditions is established, it's difficult to change it, and we often end up threatening punishment. An alternative is to modify the routine, explaining that once they start, it's harder to stop and homework becomes a chore. Therefore, we're going to help them by having the console ourselves (while limiting access) and accompanying them while they do their homework. During the week, we can even change the routine to eliminate the console altogether.
