Suicide prevention

If a person has suicidal thoughts, what can they do?

If someone is having suicidal thoughts, they need to understand that they're not doing anything wrong, that nothing strange is happening to them that we don't know how to handle, and that their situation isn't irreparable simply because they've thought about death. They should ask for help, talk about it, and know that they're not alone.

It is important to consult a professional so that they can make a referral to mental health services (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Center (CSMIJ) or Adult Mental Health Center (CSMA) or, in very urgent cases, consult the mental health emergency services where there are psychiatrists on call who can make an urgent assessment of the case and start treatment or indicate admission, if necessary.
