How can teachers detect the recurrence of a psychotic episode?

There are several warning signs that teaching teams can detect in their interactions with students or in the interaction within the classroom:

  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Decrease in academic performance
  • Impulsivity
  • Alterations in thinking and perception
  • Confused thoughts
  • Distrust towards people around them
  • Sudden changes in mood
  • Social isolation
  • Drowsiness in class due to sleep problems
  • Lack of care or personal hygiene
  • Unusual and excessively intense ideas
  • Strange feelings or absence of feelings
  • Problems expressing themselves verbally
  • Difficulty distinguishing reality from fantasy
  • Disorganization of behavior
  • Extreme and involuntary lack of energy, motivation, interest, etc.

If you detect several of these signs, we recommend contacting the person's family or close circle to report the situation.

If you are unable to contact the family and if there are alarming signs, call the telephone number 061 or the medical emergency telephone number in your area.
