Rights
How can I exercise my right to equality and non-discrimination?
All people have the right to receive equal and non-discriminatory treatment, including those with a mental health problem. Some recommendations for exercising your right to equality and non-discrimination are:
- Know your rights and remind yourself of them when necessary (you can cite the articles of the New York Convention).
- Develop skills that allow you to trust your abilities and participate actively.
- Identify discrimination and prejudice and point them out, if possible, at the moment they occur.
- Create an opinion: openly discuss situations of discrimination with colleagues, friends, family, professionals, neighbors, etc.
- If the discrimination persists, report it.
- Join the organizations present in your area to demand discrimination.
