Autism spectrum disorders (ASD)

Does a person with autism have different physical characteristics?

Not necessarily. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that doesn't present with specific phenotypic characteristics. However, there are cases where this disorder is associated with a genetic syndrome, such as Down syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, or Angelman syndrome, among others. In these cases, the child will have certain physical traits, but these are not caused by ASD itself, but rather by the genetic alteration.
