Do all people with ASD have eating difficulties?
Eating difficulties are one of the most common challenges faced by individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The prevalence of this problem varies considerably across studies, but it is estimated that between 46% and 89% of children with ASD experience problematic eating habits. Individuals with ASD tend to eat a narrower diet and have a greater aversion to certain foods. The causes of these difficulties are often related to rigidity (and difficulty accepting new changes) and sensory hypersensitivity, which can, for example, lead to aversions to certain textures.
