Eating disorder

Can eating disorders be cured?

People with eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia can recover with treatment from specialized professionals. Between 70 and 80% of people recover, while 20 to 30% of cases become chronic, meaning they live with the illness. Approximately 5% of people with anorexia nervosa die as a result of the disorder. Early detection, the start of specialized treatment, and family involvement throughout the therapeutic process are factors associated with a good prognosis. It is important to continue developing new therapeutic strategies to improve treatment outcomes.
