Eating disorder
Are the brothers or sisters of a person with an eating disorder more at risk of developing the illness?
Eating disorders have a multifactorial origin and a genetic component. This means that siblings share a risk factor for developing this disorder.
It's helpful to know, but we shouldn't live in constant fear that one of our children will develop anorexia or bulimia. We simply need to be alert to possible warning signs and talk about it naturally, adapting our approach to the age of each family member.
