Research on mental health and COVID-19

We take the pulse of the emotional impact of the pandemic

Perhaps never before has it been so important to investigate the emotional state of the population. We are experiencing a second wave of COVID-19, and we barely know what it will mean in terms of its psychological and social effects, as well as the resulting economic costs. We are beginning to see preliminary results from research on the pandemic's impact on the population's mental health. In this special issue, we want to take the pulse of that initial data.

The healthcare professional community, one of the groups most impacted by COVID-19

Already immersed in the second wave of COVID-19, the RESPOND project will study the current needs and conditions of the healthcare system in order to implement an intervention aimed at frontline healthcare professionals and intended to improve their well-being, mental health and work performance during and after the pandemic.

Assess the impact of COVID-19 in order to inform public health strategies

The COM-COVID project was developed by the SMA-TB consortium (IGTP and Anaxomics) in collaboration with the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park (PSSJD) and the Fight Against AIDS and Infectious Diseases Foundation. This study, which collected over 56,000 responses, will analyze the prevalence of depression, anxiety, stress, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in the general population and among healthcare professionals following the COVID-19 outbreak.

The COVID-19 pandemic and women's mental health

The health, social, and economic crisis caused by COVID-19 is impacting the mental health of the entire population, but women are at greater risk of their mental health deteriorating in the context of the pandemic. Several factors contribute to this risk: inequalities and discrimination in the workplace, the burden of family and caregiving responsibilities, and violence against women.
