Dr. Francisco Villar Cabeza
He graduated in Psychology in 2008 from the University of Barcelona and later specialised in Clinical Psychology at the University Hospital Vall d'Hebron Barcelona (2008-2011). He obtained a PhD in Psychology at the Autonomous University (2018) and his doctoral dissertation focused on his field of expertise - suicidal behaviours in minors. He received specific family therapy training at the "Roberto Clemente Family Guidance Center" in New York. In 2012 he started working as a faculty specialist in Acute Care, Crisis Day Hospital and external consultations of the Psychiatry and Psychology Service of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona.
Since 2013, he has been part of the group of promoters of the Care Program for Suicidal Behaviours in Minors in the Hospital, a program that he currently coordinates. Since the introduction of the protocol, several lines of investigations into the suicidal behaviour of children have been followed and the results have been disseminated through articles, symposiums, oral communication and posters at national and international congresses and media interventions. In line of the prevention, he is also part of the advisory group of suicide prevention experts “Pla Director de Salut Mental i Addiccions” of the Department of Health of Cataluña.
