Stigma and discrimination in mental health
The stigma surrounding mental health leads to a multitude of discriminatory situations that hinder the family, social, professional, and educational development of millions of people. This stigma exists in all areas—education, healthcare, employment, and the media—and it is from these very spaces that we must act to end prejudice and discriminatory attitudes toward people with mental health problems.
Mental health stigma is a global problem, and the fight to eradicate it must be a priority in any free and democratic society.
