Rights and mental health

There are almost 500 million people in the world who have a mental health problem that significantly hinders their lives, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). These people require adequate care, as well as the necessary guarantees for the exercise of their rights under equal conditions. Knowing and defending the rights of these people challenges us all, if we want to achieve a more just society.

We propose to talk about mental health rights. Why should we care? What are the main rights that are usually violated in people with mental health problems? What recovery model should we move towards to promote the rights and autonomy of these people? What can we do as part of this society?
