The documentary "Des-Nudos" gives young people a voice to speak openly and personally about mental health.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that between 10 and 20% of adolescents worldwide experience mental disorders, and half of these begin at age 14 or earlier, although in many cases they are neither detected nor treated.
This is a very present reality that the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated, worsening the situation that many were already experiencing and bringing to light new cases, especially of eating disorders, anxiety and suicide attempts.
Talking about it, understanding the context, and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health problems remains an essential formula for listening, supporting, and finding solutions.
With this perspective, San Juan de Dios has produced the documentary " Des-Nudos " (Un-Naked) , which features seven personal and intimate conversations between young people experiencing mental health challenges and those around them . It is an act of generosity, featuring seven young people who speak in the first person about mental health from their own experience: their fears, uncertainties, diagnoses, overcoming challenges, treatments—everything surrounding a life marked by mental health issues.
The aim of the project is to highlight young people's perspectives on mental health, and also to raise awareness and break down stigmas surrounding increasingly common realities. "Un-Naked" It is a song of love and hope for life and the human bonds and relationships that unite and sustain us, and aims to talk about mental health in an uninhibited way, breaking down prejudices and making visible realities that are often silenced and heavily stigmatized.
The documentary is co-directed by Diana Casellas , head of awareness at Solidaridad SJD and member of the technical-scientific committee of SOM Salud Mental 360; Txell Esteve , journalist, screenwriter and editor of documentaries and television programs and current coordinator of the communication department of Solidaridad SJD, and produced by Marc Juan , director of photography and filmmaker with extensive experience in reporting and documentary filmmaking.
The work has been selected by the Legendary Doc Film Festival, an online independent documentary festival in Los Angeles, California, where it won the Audience Award and the Legendary Director Award, and has also been selected by the Terra Gollut Film Festival for socially conscious cinema.
The documentary, which can be seen on Filmin.es and Filmin.cat until October 12, is part of the different initiatives that have been promoted by Solidaridad SJD aimed at the social mobilization of young people such as EducaSJD , Latidos or the documentary series #YoCambioTodo .
